Why we need support

Support. This is a VERY powerful word. It is the one thing we all look for when going through change. It could be emotional, it could be financial, it could be physical. As a verb, support means many things among which are: to endure bravely or quietly; assist; to hold up or serve as a foundation. In order to feel support we need to be in the right place with the right resources.

How do we find the right support? How do we find the person or people who can help us through our challenge? At times trying to find an entire village (or army of defenders) is a daunting task. The biggest challenge I found when on my own search for support was who to I call first? What do I need to know - what questions should I be asking? Feeling very much alone in my quest I stumbled, I fell, I slid down embankments that I thought would drop me into the abyss. I questioned how I could be my "best me" to my kids during this period of uncertainty. I was frustrated in SO many ways and then I got angry. Not at anyone in particular but because as a successful professional woman for years I couldn't find the answers to my questions.

My conversion from anger to opportunity was realized in that minute. I was NOT going to allow anyone to feel this way if I could help it. I wanted to, no NEEDED to share my experience and my knowledge with other women who were going through what I had just been through. The big question was how to get the word out there that there was someone who could help. I was lucky enough to find someone who could help me with this and push me to provide the confidence I needed to put myself out there and share the good and the bad. Once I started sharing my story, my experience and the knowledge I had attained I realized that this was my calling.
